Yes, I know I haven't posted anything for the longest time. I have been busy (crafting)! Honest! My next post/project was supposed to be a cropped cardi for the little princess but I had a running-out-of-yarn dilemma that led me to want to unravel the part that I already completed. I decided to shelve the project for a time when I would have more time to work on it.
I still really wanted to do a cardi, so I decided to use bigger needles and some yummy yarn I bought on sale. I got the back and sides done, and even sewed them up already. I got stuck with the sleeves, though. Serves me right for not finding a proper pattern (because I was basing it on a crocheted toddler's jacket pattern that I found).
While working it out I got bit by the Star Wars bug (what with the kids starting to love it and then we bought a game, and when I was supposed to be looking up knitted sleeves on the net, I got sidetracked up SW lane, damn google, etc.) Decided to make the boy something then. I started with a storm trooper coz it seemed the easiest to do. I did have to go through 4 trooper heads and 2 body sizes till I finally found something that worked.
I know the eyes and the mouth could be better. And the gun is a Lego thing. I'll want to make a new improved one though, but after the others...
After the trooper came Vader. After all, good soldier needs a leader! And here he be:
This turned out better than I expected. His cape is crocheted because I decided I wanted to keep it all crochet as much as possible, meaning no beads, felt etc, although i used toothpicks for the swords.
And then Ventress followed suit, because the princess didn't want to be left out. (She didn't care much for Amidala.)
I mixed up different designs for this one. Her face tattoos are based on the cg Clone Wars (the one on Cartoon Network) version of her and her costume is based on the action figure (which is based on the comics, i think). Her eyes (embroidered) turned out better than I expected.
I;m working on Amidala and I have a request for Anakin, so I guess that will be my next post. I promise not to take too long this time. Hee!
parting shot: our villainous heroes conquering the eevil bunny. death to bunnies!
