The Mat/Bag

Step one:  It's a playmat.

Step two: Fold in one side.  Fold in the other.

Step three:  Gather the handles and it's a bag!

Z's Pouch Bag

Or: The Innocuous Pouch Bag That Nearly Did Cat In.

Gods!  Everything just went wrong in the making of this pouch.  Such a simple thing, too: lined, with a loop-and-button closure.  This bag is evil.

This is hand-embroidered in stem-stitch from a drawing made by Z.

Still Alive. Still Crafting

Sorry for the absence. Was trying to piece my broken brain back together after the horror of Hell Week. Now I'm gearing up for "Summer 2010: Recreating Hell on Earth."

I did make a couple of things, just to prove that my synapses are still firing right.

First off, a pouch to hold current knitting projects. There was supposed to be some sort of loop thingy to hold the needles in place, but there was a bit of a struggle in the making of this oh-so-simple pouch. I don't want to talk about it anymore.

Next off is this knitted gadget cozy. Mah first evah project involving intarsia and weaving-in stitches. Not even close to perfect, I know, but I SWEAR I unraveled more stitches than I knitted up. Yet another lesson in half-assery on my part. Will I ever learn how to follow instructions? (No.) But it got done, and it looks kinda okay if you squint, so I count it as a win.

Meanwhile, "The Last Meshbag I Will Ever Knit" is STILL NOT DONE! It's on my desk, mocking me, and calling me all sorts of unrepeatable things. All I know is it has to get done before May. Perhaps with the help of some divine intervention.

Pants Leg Bag

This is the first of three messenger bags I made from old pants. It's also the first project I ever made using french seams (so I didn't have to put a lining coz i really sick at linings). It's basically a simple messenger bag made out of a pant leg. Since this was to be Jacob's bag for his drawing book when we go out, I decided to make the strap adjustable so the bigger he gets he could still use the bag. I just haven't finished sewing all the button holes yet tho.
I made two more of these, slightly smaller and sans the adjustable strap but with side pockets for pens. Those were Christmas gifts for Jake's cousins which I hadn't had time to photograph as they were finished just in time for Christmas. hee.

Completophobia

So, I started this bag today. It's supposed to be a craftbag for my current knitting projects, since I found it a bit funny that I carried my knitting in plastic bags that my needles poked holes through, and if there is anyone who ought to have a proper craftbag, well, it's me.

ANYHOW, I made myself one today... but as usual, haven't finished it. After about 40 minutes of torturing myself over the strap (One or two? Make one or use the ready-made one? Sew it outside or between the lining? And on and on.), I then reached a block on what to do for the closer thingy. Ya know, to keep the bag closed so the stuff don't fall out. *sigh*

Unable to decide, I started digging through my cloth stash to start ANOTHER crafbag. A better one, with inner pockets and outer pockets and... *sighhh*

I know something's wrong with me. Just haven't found out if there's a name for it yet.

Craft-a-Week Commences

Cat's post:

I suggested the brilliant idea that m and I should come up with a finished project every week. For now it's just random stuff we want to do, and they're supposed to be posted every Tuesday.

So... Sunday came around and I still hadn't decided on what project to do. I kinda panicked and sewed up a drawstring bag, then decided something was wrong with it as soon as I was done, kinda panicked again and added the little finger puppet. That should cover it, huh?

I think there may be something wrong with me.

Also, remember when I said previously that I'd my next post would be about the S&P packaging? I lied.

Bandana Bags and Coffee Highs

I have been meaning to turn this bandana into a skirt for Pip but one day when i dverdosed on the coffee again i suddenly had this urge to turn it into a bag. So without much of a pattern or plan and only a vague idea of what I wanted, I started cutting and just made it up as I went. I must admit I was surprised it turned out okay. And it's surprisingly roomy too. Pip can carry 2 to 3 board books, her drawing book (just a planner with blank pages) and a box of crayons. It can also makes a nifty shoulderbag for me. The strap turned out long enough.

The only setback is that the material is soft so it gets distorted when its used with stuff in it. And I didn't put a lining in it (yet). Anyway, I had another coffee-overdosed morning the other day and instead of finishing a doll I've been meaning to finish I found myself picking up a pen and making the instructions for this here bandana bag. hehehe. I love overdosing on coffee.

New Mesh Bags

New mesh bags! Decided to chuck the Nest Tote design because the i-cord straps are a bit uncomfortable, and the row with the slip-slip-knit stitch was waaay too much for my poor brain to keep track of.

Anyhoo, aside from making that gift tag, I was also busy coming up with packaging for the bags. Details for that in my next post.

Skirt Bag

This is one of my favorite skirts that found its way to my cloth-for-plushies pile because it somehow got ruined by bleach ( I swear it wasn't me!). I used up the bottom of the skirt for some other projects, and when I got to the top part there was just too much stiching to take apart so i decided to turn the whole thing into something useful.

front

back
And here's the xda pouch I made from part of the bottom of the skirt. It has a belt thing at the back, and it's supposed to have velcro to keep it shut but i haven't gotten around to attaching it yet.

Knitted Bag Dispenser

Knitted bag dispenser using the BagBag Pattern from Classic Elite Yarns. I've had to modify the design a bit (apologies to CEY) since I didn't have the necessary circular needles. Or the proper size yarn. So, I've had to use straight needles and increase the number of stitches as well.

BTW, this used thread recycled from an old crochet project. Just so you know.

Off to start mesh bag number three, hopefully get the lot done by Christmas? *crosses fingers* Whee!

Knitted Mesh Bag

May I present, the mesh bag! I finally finished a knitting project. I'm finding a lot of fault with this project, but seeing as how it's my very first completed one, perhaps I'm a bit too harsh with meself. Especially since I had to make my own double-pointed needles.

How many brownie points does that get me?

Bag design is Elisa's Nest Tote from purlbee dot com.

Baggie

I've finally finished my first plastic bag crochet project. I didn't have much plastic when I started and I was so ecxited to start I couldn't wait to collect enough plastic so I started making squares with only a vague idea of what the end result would be. Well, here it is. Roughly 5.5 x 5.5 inches and 2 inches deep...er wide...er width.
