July Mini Journal Highlights

The dog in question doesn't look nearly as cute (or remorseful) as this.

Bad day bunny.

Rabbit finds something while out on a walk.

If this is my subconscious talking, I have no idea what it's trying to say.

Strange weather. Sunny, windy, rainy.  Pick one or two.  Or three even.

The rabbits seem to be active this month.

Playing with Paint and Patterns

I find it a bit calming to paint and stamp repeating patterns.

Hope I Can Keep This Up

I couldn't figure out what to draw or write, so I kept on adding papers and doodles.

I'm thinking, perhaps this year I shall reveal some truths about myself.

New! Old Stuff from Past Journals

Finally managed to dig out my old journals and drag myself to the scanner.  Whew.  Will most probably upload the whole lot onto the flickr account soon.  Will post everything here slowly, over time.  Or, you know, when I have nothing else to post.

If anyone's interested to know, the blue paint on the right is actually fabric stencil paint.  Heh.

Page left is a 'found poem' made from words cut out of a magazine.

More collages.  On page right, now with actual wire!

Mmm, Haw Flakes.

WIPs, or I Stayed up 'Til 2am Getting Crosseyed

Work-in-Progress from a few days ago.  Lettering using circus and carnival fonts.

I saw a picture of some woven reeds that looked so sculptural and I just liked them,  and the idea of them, so I made a quick sketch.

From there, I had the urge to use the design of the basket things by stitching it on paper.  The idea was to try and weave the threads in a similar manner as the sculptures.  Yeahhhh, no.  As you can see, I only managed to do it this way and this is as far as I got before I realized I was crazy.

More stitching on paper.  I also did some stuff with paint, but nobody needs to see those.

Patchwork Bunny WIPs and a Journal Entry

collage journal

One of those spur-of-the-moment things that I try to encourage myself to do.  I don't  know what that thing on her head is s'posed to be, but the hair I cut out wouldn't fit, so...  This page doesn't make sense 'cause the face doesn't really evoke 'circus' to me.  It was just the first thing that came to my head.  Doesn't matter, 'cause my brain didn't try to knot itself over-thinking this, and I got messy.

patchwork bunny doll

Then we get to these two:  zombie bunnies?  They're helping me get my sewing mojo back.  I'm thinking I might have to replace the red arm of the guy on the right side because I mistakenly used the same cloth as his ear, and on the same side, too.  (Yes, m, it bothers me quite a bit.  Also: shut up.)

We shall see which side will win out:  my obsessive brain, or my lazy ass.

New Inspiration: Gerard Lange

The journals of Gerard Lange have made me realize that I can throw unrelated images, pepper them with ephemera and tie them together with drawings and sketches.

Or, well, he can certainly do that and make it seem like he did it all so effortlessly.  I have to work doubly hard to be able to come up with half the results.

No matter.  I'm enjoying the process, and my journal is getting my attention again.

A mixture of collage, drawing and writing.  Needs to be "messier."

The hardest part was how to put the fork.  These pages are now ready for writing and drawings.

From a Trip Downtown

One of the stuff I got from my foray downtown:  a mini glue gun to replace the old one that takes forever to heat up.  I like the way the clean lines of this turned out.  I rarely find myself able to successfully pull off this kind of line drawing.

The spading fork I got yesterday is much more exciting; but my drawing of it?  Not so much.

Three Collages

My muse has been on vacation since I abused her with the playmats last December. These are the only things I could come up with on my own. Collages. What'd you expect?
