July Mini Journal Highlights

The dog in question doesn't look nearly as cute (or remorseful) as this.

Bad day bunny.

Rabbit finds something while out on a walk.

If this is my subconscious talking, I have no idea what it's trying to say.

Strange weather. Sunny, windy, rainy.  Pick one or two.  Or three even.

The rabbits seem to be active this month.

Cat in the rain.

Some things on my desk and Cat with Pigtails.

Cat with green tie (who loves spicy tuna!) and some naughts.

What I did with some of my drawings from the previous challenge.

 Mother's Day and a collage.

Yay, Rain! collage and some animals we made during an artsy moment.

Playing with watercolors and a rare entry.

Challenge for May 2015

The S&P challenge has been resurrected!  This time around, it's a doodle-fest: draw your weird and wacky, anything goes, draw with a kid's imagination.

The kids participated, too, although I feel they just wanted to appease me to shut me up so that they could get back to their video games. :(

The boys' work:

My attempt:

(Clearly this last one was reflecting what was sorely lacking to make this challenge work.)

Late post!  We were having some hardware malfunctions and bricked phones, hence the late posts.  Excuse the crappy photos.  I fixed them up and made them clear as best as I could. Here are the doodle challenge entries from up North:

This one is from me. Couldn't think of anything else to draw so I drew cats.

This one is from the girl.  She drew some on her Magic Sketcher but I said it had to be on paper.  (I did the inking on a few of them because I wasn't sure if it would show up on the camera.)

The girl is way better than I was/ am at drawing.  Right now she's in her "killer bunny" phase.  She's making short cartoons on her Sketcher about killer bunnies playing pranks on other animals.  I have no idea where she gets it from.  Scares me sometimes.

Muse Shoving Journals in My Face

Giving some attention to my poor neglected journals.  I haven't filled them all up yet, and already I'm planning on making yet another one.

Here, experimenting with some wax resist. Had to clean off some serious dust gathered on my watercolor box.

Fantasy Fish by Mika

Late post of some drawings from last December.  Done by Mika (age 6), it's her version of underwater creatures.

Caffeine-fueled Muse

A few days ago, my muse decided to drop by and give me some coffee, but not to drink!  I couldn't comprehend the idea until I realized she'd stuck a Chinese brush in it.  Oh.

Playing with coffee is fun!  Are these scales or eggs?  Egg scales!

When using coffee, you're never quite sure what you're gonna get until it all dries out.

Nice and subtle for shadows.

New Inspiration: Gerard Lange

The journals of Gerard Lange have made me realize that I can throw unrelated images, pepper them with ephemera and tie them together with drawings and sketches.

Or, well, he can certainly do that and make it seem like he did it all so effortlessly.  I have to work doubly hard to be able to come up with half the results.

No matter.  I'm enjoying the process, and my journal is getting my attention again.

A mixture of collage, drawing and writing.  Needs to be "messier."

The hardest part was how to put the fork.  These pages are now ready for writing and drawings.

From a Trip Downtown

One of the stuff I got from my foray downtown:  a mini glue gun to replace the old one that takes forever to heat up.  I like the way the clean lines of this turned out.  I rarely find myself able to successfully pull off this kind of line drawing.

The spading fork I got yesterday is much more exciting; but my drawing of it?  Not so much.

Unfinished Drawing

Drawn from the screen, from an old b&w photograph of  buildings.  Unfinished.  Most likely to remain so.  I got bored.

What I'm Doing These Days

Since I have no new knitting project, and all my sewing projects are on hiatus, I end up doing doodles.
